About White Deer

Around White Deer.

Worth a stop

The White Deer Statue, a concrete white deer on Main Street commissioned by resident R. A. Thompson in 1918, is still the town's signature landmark.

A little history

White Deer takes its name from nearby White Deer Creek, where legend says someone once saw an albino deer drinking. The town's roots go back to 1882 cattle ranching, and it peaked at about 3,000 residents during the Panhandle oil boom of 1928.

Mark the calendar

The White Deer Rodeo, hosted by the White Deer Riding Club every year since 1958 on the last weekend of July, features a parade and barbecue.

On the map since

1888. The British-owned Francklyn Land and Cattle Company stocked this range in 1882. The railroad picked the spot for a depot in 1888 because of the water well here. Named for nearby White Deer Creek.

Most towns up here were put on the map by a railroad inside about twenty years. Here is how that happened →

Fiber, in a town the railroad built

White Deer exists because a railroad needed water here in 1888. It is a good reminder that infrastructure decides which small towns make it. Fiber is the current version of that, and White Deer has it.

On the fiber route, service is symmetrical. Upload equals download. That is what carries video calls, cloud backups, remote work, and every camera or monitor you might have watching a shop or a pen. The old connections out here were built like a one-way street, plenty coming in and almost nothing going out, which is why they felt broken the second you needed to send something.

Addresses beyond the fiber run on licensed fixed wireless. A tower talks to a small antenna on your roof and covers ground that cable was never going to reach. Most of Carson County falls in that footprint.

Local techs handle the install and the service calls. Same county, not a call center.

Drop your address in the checker above and we will tell you which one gets to you.
