The Stationmaster's House Museum on South Townsend is a restored cottage built for the Santa Fe Railroad stationmaster, with the original depot, a windmill, and a replica of the area's first settler-built structure on the grounds.

A little history

Spearman was platted in 1917 and named for Thomas E. Spearman, a vice president of the Santa Fe Railway. The town incorporated in 1921, absorbed the nearby towns of Farwell and Hansford, and became the Hansford County seat in 1929.

Spearman was platted in 1917 ahead of a railroad, and the restored stationmaster’s cottage on South Townsend is still standing as a reminder of it. The town has been the working center of Hansford County ever since.
