A little history

Gruver is named for rancher Joseph Hezkiah Gruver, who settled the area around 1907. The town grew as a wheat farming center and incorporated in 1930.

Gruver started as a ranch nine miles west of where the town sits now and grew into a wheat town in the 1920s. Hansford County still runs on farming, and farm operations have quietly become some of the most connectivity-hungry businesses out here.
