A little history

Fritch is named for railroad executive H. C. "Fred" Fritch. The town incorporated in 1959 after Sanford Dam went up on the Canadian River, creating Lake Meredith.

1933. Rock Island Railroad vice president H. C. 'Fred' Fritch bought the right-of-way in 1924 and the townsite was laid out in 1933. A 1926 gas boom and later the Sanford Dam are what actually grew it.
